App for Energy & Mobility

Validating an App for
Energy & Mobility
Galp wanted to know if a single app could bring together fuel payments, energy services, and mobility into one experience users would actually return to.
This was a fast-paced POC project: discovery, benchmarking, prototyping, and usability testing, all compressed into a short sprint.
Working alongside a UX Researcher and a Design Lead, I contributed to research, competitive analysis, flow design, and high-fidelity prototyping to test two core hypotheses: whether integrated services and a wallet feature were compelling enough to drive app adoption.
Objectives
- Assess user adoption and satisfaction with integrated services.
- Evaluate the usability and appeal of the wallet functionality.
- Identify key strengths and areas for enhancement based on user feedback.
Discover and Define
The team started with a session conducted on the Miro board to understand the context, define the problem, objectives, features to be tested, and hypotheses. The goal was to quickly reach a consensus on the next steps for the proposal.
The value proposition of Galp revolves around three main verticals:
Mobility: Solutions aimed at improving mobility.
Integrated Energies: Integration of various energy solutions.
Convenience of Payments: Enhancing the convenience of payments.
Additionally, the app aims to be a centralized communication and information tool, a market-leading wallet, and to use payments as a trigger for app usage.

Desk research and bench
The next step involved gathering information about relevant external players to understand their market presence and functionalities. This included:
1. Analyzing apps that offer similar services to comprehend their features and user experiences.
2. Identifying apps that are recognized for their exemplary UX/UI in the market.
3. Creating an analysis board to evaluate visual elements and user flows, which will inform the design of our future flows.

Flows
As we decided on the two concepts to test (wallet and services), we formulated hypotheses for the test before creating user flows and screens.
1. What are the users' motivations/triggers for entering the app, and what would be the most useful aspects regarding the integration of services to meet these needs?
2. Is the payment feature the primary motivator for users to download and use the app, or is it merely a convenient addition?

Prototype and testing
As this project is still in the testing phase, the primary goal is to test the proof of concept (POC) of two flows: payments and services, as well as to evaluate the UI and information architecture of the home screen.
Below is one of the user flows with the finished UI that users are supposed to perform.
